Abstract

Brain tumor is one of the significant problems that has taken the life of a lot of people in recent times. The brain tumor can be effectively treated if detected at an early stage. However, brain tumor detection requires sophisticated algorithms. The weight-based classification techniques are commonly used for this purpose but have less detection accuracy. In this paper, the hidden Markov model (HMM)-based brain tumor classification algorithm is presented that increases the detection accuracy. The HMM classifier is simulated on MATLAB, and its efficiency in terms of PSNR, MSE, and accuracy is compared to the traditional weight-based classifier.
