GAN2Shape - Create 3D Shape with 2D GANs

Abstract

In this blog post, we discuss the key points of the paper “Do 2D GANs Know 3D Shape? Unsupervised 3D Shape Reconstruction from 2D Image GANs” (GAN2Shape) by Pan et al. We will discuss both the theory and code (in the author's GitHub repository and use a demo Colab notebook to show how GAN2Shape is able to transform 2D images to 3D images in multiple view images format. We gave a brief introduction to 3D deep learning, GANs, StyleGAN2, and Unsup3D . Then we discussed in detail the key steps of GAN2Shape: how to transform a 2D image into 3D shapes, by using Unsup3D and StyleGAN2D. We demonstrated the training process with a Colab notebook to show the input image and the generated 3D images.
